The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced strengthening the Black Stars technical team with four new additions ahead of the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The continent’s flagship tournament will kick start on Sunday, January 9, to February 6, 2022 in Cameroon.
According to a communique from the GFA, their decision is in line with a request by coach Milovan Rajevac to strengthen the technical department.
The quartet are; Mike Stankovic, a Serbian/American football coach; Awal Salifu, a performance analyst of International repute as well as two scouts.
Stankovic, 65, served as an assistant to Milovan Rajevac during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where Ghana reached the quarter final stage.
Awal Kamin Salifu has worked with the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana and Nordsjaelland FC in Denmark as performance analyst.
Having already been with the team in Doha-Qatar where the Black Stars are camping for the tournament, the four will have their first assignment on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, 4:00pm local time when Ghana play African Champions Algeria in a pre-tournament friendly.
The Black Stars are paired in Group C with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros, and will open their tournament campaign on Monday, January 10, 2022 against Morocco.
