The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its indefinite industrial action.
The association embarked on the strike on January 20, 2022 after it had demanded that the government addresses problems associated with its Conditions of Service.
However, in less than 24 hours after laying down their tools, the Executive Secretary of the Association, Isaac Bampoe Addo, directed the members to return to work on January 24, 2022.
“All members should organize themselves and resume work on Monday 24th January 2022,” the statement partly read.
The instruction follows a review of an agreement CLOGSAG’s National Executive Council (NEC) reached with the employer on January 19, 2022 during a meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
According to the Commission’s Head of Public Affairs in an earlier statement, “the agreement granted some aspects of demands concerning their conditions of service with others being work in progress”.
Consequently, the disgruntled association was expected to call off the strike with immediate effect to allow government work to continue.
Institutions affected included Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
