Former Ghanaian International, Charles Taylor, has said Sulley Muntari is not fit enough for Ghana’s upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff games against Nigeria.
Sulley has been impressive with his performance since he arrived at Accra Hearts of Oak, with the midfielder featuring five times and providing one assist for the defending champions.
Following this, there has been a call for the return of the former Black Stars player into the team ahead of the Nigeria encounter.
But, according to the ex-Accra Hearts of Oak legend, it would be great to see Sulley Muntari back in the Black Stars but not the game involving Nigeria.
Speaking in the Twi parlance on Angel Floodlight Sports, Charles Taylor said “Sulley Muntari is a Black Stars material but he’s not qualified for the Nigeria clash. We know Sulley is a footballer and he is picking up”
“We must ask ourselves if we are going to joke with the game ahead? If it is a friendly match then we can suggest Sulley and co should be included, but since it’s a knockout game, we aren’t going to use try your luck players,” he told Sports Obama.
While elaborating on why he thinks the former Champions League winner is not fit, Taylor stated that the fitness level of Sulley Muntari some years back is not the same currently.
The ex-Asante Kotoko talisman used the medium to advice technical handlers of the team to invite players who merit and strong enough for the game because he sees the playoff as a “do or die” affair.
Ghana plays Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 25th and the reverse fixture takes place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Abuja, Nigeria.
