The Minority Caucus in Parliament is calling for a full public parliamentary investigation as soon as possible, into the demolition of the Bulgarian Embassy in Accra.
The Caucus in a statement said the alarming culture which has become unrivaled in its audaciousness “must not be allowed to fester” in the country.
The Minority’s statement comes after the Bulgarian Embassy in Accra at 10 Kakramudu Road, East Cantonment was razed down completely in daylight by some armed men believed to be land guards and errant of some personnel allegedly from the Cantonment Police Station. It is said they subsequently returned at dawn to demolished the entire building.
It then recalled how the Nigerian diplomatic property was first demolished, a situation the Caucus said “predictably strained our bilateral relations with our West African neighbor, triggering a war of words and bringing us to the brink of conflict.”
Therefore, it wondered how that “de-escalation” has resulted in the Ghanaian taxpayer unbeknownst to many now spending millions of Ghana Cedes to restore the Nigerian diplomatic facility as adequate compensation.
In a statement sighted by Angelonline.com.gh, the Minority described the incident as a “blot on Ghana’s diplomatic credentials.”

According to the Minority, the aggressively mindless attack on the people at the Embassy during “the nefarious mission” of the perpetrators is considered “declaration of war.”
“That notwithstanding, the NDC Caucus in Parliament shall be demanding a full public parliamentary probe into these bizarre circumstances with the view to identifying all the conspirators and bringing them to justice”
“We shall not allow the shadowy characters behind this hideous act to enjoy the comfort and security of anonymity; we shall smoke them and their collaborators out, and ensure that never again would a few greedy bandits damage our hitherto high diplomatic reputation,” the minority statement added.
They added that, the NDC in parliament and vast majority of Law-abiding Ghanaians would certainly not accept the misconduct nor allow the criminal masterminds to go scot free.
The Minority Caucus also promised that with a credible and verified information at their disposal, they will soon unravel the “powerful man” behind such invasion, demolishing, construction and purported takeover because it sounds as a “slur on our hard-won image in the comity of nations.”
Without a doubt, the Minority maintained that Ghana’s gesture sounds “terribly embarrassing” in diplomatic Corridor since it is a “grotesque violation” of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.
