Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed that the association will soon announce the appointment of a permanent coach for the Black Stars of Ghana.

According to Mr. Twum, talks are in advance stages to get a new coach for the team before the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged later this year.

The Black Stars are currently without a substantive coach since February 2022, after dissolving the technical team following the team’s poor performance at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

However, an interim technical team headed by Otto Addo saw the Black Stars overcome African neighbours, Nigeria, in a two-legged playoffs affair to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Luv FM in an interview, Henry Asante Twum, said there is ongoing contractual discussions between the parties involved to get them onboard.

“I do not think it will take much time. They are in communication with the individuals concerned, having regular discussions with their employers, and many factors are being considered”

“In terms of contractual engagement, a lot will go into it, so it’s tough to discuss these things. So, engagements are still ongoing, and I’m sure we will communicate our position as soon as a decision is made,” he revealed.

He added that the government of Ghana is the “employer of the coach of the Black Stars and here is the case where we had four coaches qualifying us for the World Cup.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group H of the tournament alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
