Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Cameroonian striker, Franck Etouga Mbella has earned his call-up into the country’s national team ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers.
Following Mbella’s outstanding performance for the porcupine warriors, head coach, Rigobert Song, included him in the ‘Indomitable Lions’ 34-man provisional squad for preparations ahead of the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The squad has four debutants including Mbella, Turkish-based Olivier Kemen, Oumar Gonzalez, and former French youth player Georges Kevin Nkoudou.
The informed Asante Kototo goal-machine in his first season in Ghana Premier League has exhibited his goal-scoring abilities in the first six months in the country thereby earning his call up.
His performance has helped Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the top of the 021/22, GPL campaign having joined them from AS Fortuna de Mfou.
Franck Mbella is also the league’s top scorer with 19 goals and has become a torn in the fresh to defenders.
The five-time African champions will host Kenya at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Sunday, June 5, 2022, before traveling to play Burundi at the Dar Es Salaam in matchday one and two respectively of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
