The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has served notice that customers can now buy prepaid credits from third party vending points without any challenges.
According to the company, challenges with their prepayment system that hindered customers from gaining access to prepaid credit have been resolved.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform all stakeholders, especially our cherished customers on our prepayment metering system that the issue with the 3rd Party Vending Points has been resolved,” a statement issued on Saturday, October 1, read.
The notice comes at a time customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), across some parts of the country are facing challenges in purchasing prepaid with the prepaid system from the power distribution company.
The challenge which was encountered by customers in the Ashanti Region, Volta, Eastern, and Central Region begun Thursday, September 29, 2022.
As a result, some customers in the Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Akim Tafo have all been affected.
ECG subsequently apologized to customers and businesses for the inconvenience caused by the technical challenge and said its ICT team is working assiduously to correct the anomaly and restore the system to normalcy.
It also extended its working hours to 4:00pm due to vending challenge with their prepayment system.
After announcing that customers can now purchase prepaid credit with ease, ECG further assured customers that it is “working assiduously to restore the Power App for an improved and seamless service provision.”
