Video: Two accused persons attempt escape from court premises

Two suspected thieves who were put before the Adenta Circuit Court on Friday, October 14, escaped from lawful custody after emerging from the court room.

The accused persons Raphael Atitso and Isaac Quaye whiles descending the court stairs to the police car quickly opened the handcuffs and bolted.

The incident happened after the Circuit Court Judge, Sedinam Awo Baladoh had pronounced the bail terms on the accused persons.

However, the second accused person, Isaac Quaye, was re-arrested and brought back to court after the prosecutor raised an alarm.

According to Angel News’ court correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo, the workers of the State Housing Company and court users succeeded in re-arresting Raphael Atitso after a hot pursuit.

 

Ama Brako Ampofo, narrating the sequence of events indicated that the complainant, Kelvin Dogbe, who is a painter has a provision shop in the same locality closer to the place of abode of the accused persons.

On October 1, 2022, Mr. Dogbe detected that his shop has been broken into through the ceiling and a 32-inch Nasco television set, ten packets of cigarette, ten bottles of beer, thirty packets of London Biscuits and cash of GHC500 were stolen.

He lodged a complaint to the police and mentioned Atsitso as the prime suspect.

Atitso was arrested and during investigation admitted the offence and mentioned Quaye as his accomplice. The television has since been retrieved. The case was adjourned to November 15.

However, Raphael Atsitso is still on the run after escaping into the bushes.
