The 15.3% reduction of transport fares as announced by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union takes effective today, Monday, December 19, 2022.
It follows the fall in fuel prices of petroleum products at the pumps.
This decision follows the series of negotiations that have gone on between the transport ministry and transport operators to lower fare prices for mutual benefit.
The Concerned Drivers Association had earlier announced a 10 per cent reduction in transport fares.
This was contained in a statement issued by the association on Friday, 16 December 2022.
“With recent reductions in the petroleum products, it became necessary to engage stakeholders to give consideration to a review of the fares in line with Administrative Instrument. Consequently, series of negotiation meetings were held with stakeholders to agree on an acceptable level of fare reduction commensurate with the current fuel prices,” the statements announced.
