Spokesperson for the Dr Mahamadu Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has said that the Vice President has enough resources to fund his campaign for the flagbership race in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

An investigative journalist based in Nigeria, David Hundeyin, had alleged on Twitter that a foreign group is sponsoring Mr. Bawumia’s run for the New Patriotic Party flagbearership slot.

He alleged further that ACF (Awera Consultative Forum) is funding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 Election which is in contrast with the laws of the land.

The tweet has sparked debate across social media platforms but the Vice President Dr. Bawumia is yet to comment on the matter.

National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu has been among the number of people calling for investigations into this claim as according to him, the act contravenes the Constitution of Ghana.

“Unlike the economic malice, the exchange rate, the debt exchange and the precipitous decline and collapse of the Ghanaian economy which he Vice President has avoided like a plaque, this is not one of the things he can avoid because it is quite damaging. If it turns out to be true…I hope it is not true… so that at the very least, he does not have to concern himself with illegality on top of the hopelessness and incompetence that he has displayed of the Ghanaian economy,” he had said.

Reacting to this on Angel Morning Show, on Wednesday, Miracles Aboagye said the allegations are unfounded and hence called on Ghanaians to treat it with the contempt it deserves.

According to him, the Vice President does not need foreign support to win the NPP Flagbearership contest as adding that he has enough resources and credibility to win the contest.

“Bawumia doesn’t need any foreign support to win the NPP flagbear contest. Let’s focus on credible information and stop spreading baseless fabrications…,” he said.
