The Ghana Police Service has suspended the interdiction of its former Director General in charge of the Technical Department, COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and Superintendent George Lysander Asare.
The embattled three officers were initially interdicted on Thursday, September 7, 2023, for their involvement in with the leaked tape which has become the subject matter of an investigation by Parliament.
According to a statement signed by COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, the Director General, Administration, COP Mensah’s interdiction was to take immediate effect.
The decision, the statement added, was to “make way for disciplinary proceeding into their conduct in line with Police Service regulations.”
“You are to hand over your weapons, uniforms and other police accoutrements and or properties including your authority badge to DEPOL LOGISTICS,” the initial statement stated.
However, the police administration has made a U-turn about the whole decision and rescinded their decision.
“In order not to prejudice the ongoing probe, the police administration has suspended their interdiction,” a statement issued by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service read in part.
