Deputy Minister of Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has disclosed intentions to introduce a digital learning program to aid children in communities affected by the Akosombo Dam Spillage.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show Wednesday, October 25, 2023, he stated that, they are introducing a digital learning program to help make up for learning losses for the children in the affected areas.
According to him due to the difficulty to transport school children, most especially those at the bank of the river, calls for the intended digital learning program.
“It would be difficult to bring them from their safe havens to the pavilions or the classrooms, which wouldn’t be safe,” Rev. Fordjour added.
He reiterated that, the intended digital learning tools will help the school children particularly those at the primary one, two and three levels to learn via radio reading programs.
Mr. Ntim Fordjour stated that, they are planning on reactivating radio reading programs and other digital forms of learning which wouldn’t require the use of internet or electricity.
“… We are looking at how to reactivate it and other digital forms of learning which wouldn’t require the use of internet or electricity to help mitigate the learning losses,” he said.
The deputy minister added “Whatever way we will use to help them make up for their losses at the end of this year, this would be done by remediation measures to help them catch up.”
He expressed that the spillage should not be a hindrance to the children’s education however they will find lasting solutions to alleviate the problems.
“We don’t want this spillage to be a hindrance to the children’s education, that’s why we are making custom made solutions to help various communities.”
