At least eight lives were lost on Sunday, November 12, 2023, in a fatal crash on the Akyem Akroso-Asamankese road in Eastern Region.
Several others also sustained varied degrees of injuries as a result of the accident and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Reports indicate that the crash occured when a White Toyota Hiace with registration number GM 3150-13 carrying about fifteen passengers from Bantama, a suburb of Akim Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso district collided with a Pontiac Vibe private car with registration number GG 3528-14 which was heading to Achiase from Asamankese.
An Eye witness recounted to the media that the speeding Pontiac Vibe saloon car suffered burst a tyre, and this caused the driver to lose control and collided with the Toyota Hiace.
The bodies of the eight persons who lost their lives in the accident have been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital morgue.
The injured victims have also been sent to the same facility for treatment.
