The conversation around corruption and corruption-related activities and its perception dominant about the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration is now a reality and not a perception, Central Regional Communication Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabriella Tetteh has said.
Speaking on Wednesday’s January 31, 2024, edition of the Angel Morning Show, she said the comparatively worse corruption record of the NPP is no longer considered a notion but reality.
“NPP claim that the NDC was worse in terms of corruption but under the NPP current, what do we see? The Afro barometer report tells us that the NDC’s worst performance is the NPP’s best performance,” she said.
This report, she said, makes “corruption about NPP becoming a reality other than perception.”
“So, we Ghanaians know that, talking about the fight against corruption, President Akufo-Addo and his NPP has failed Ghanaians woefully because their sweet promises made in 2016 for the fight against corruption has all not yielded any positive results,” he said.
She further described as aspect of the Afrobarometer report which stated that Ghana has been losing GH¢9.6 billion every year to corruption as ‘strange’.
She noted that such a huge amount could have been used to facilitate the building of hospitals and schools nationwide for easy access to quality healthcare and education.
