Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex have been given the greenlight to use the Accra Sports Stadium as its home venue for their African campaign as they compete in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.

Nsenkyire Sports Arena serves as the home grounds for Samartex, however, CAF did not approve the venue for the inter-club competitions.

This means the Samreboi-based side shall host its preliminary matches at the Accra Sports Stadium and could continue playing at the same venue if they qualify for the group stages.

“The management of FC Samartex wishes to formally notify our cherished supporters and the wider sporting community that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the venue for the Champions League preliminary one and two matches,” a club statement read.

“In light of this prestigious opportunity, FC Samartex respectfully calls upon all patrons to support the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League Champions to excel in their first-ever Caf Inter-Club competitions.

“As we proudly represent the nation in this distinguished CAF prestigious competition, Your support is invaluable as we pursue excellence on the continental stage,” the statement concluded.

The Timber Giants will begin their campaign in an away trip to Cameroon to play Victoria United Football Club on August 16 before hosting the second leg on August 25, in Accra.
