Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stated that Ashanti’s are solidly behind the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on GHone TV on Monday, November 18, 2024, Wontumi stated that the NPP unlike 2016 and 2020, is enjoying the support of chiefs, Christians and Muslims in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Regional Chairman, the policies and ideas of Dr. Bawumia have made a lot of people rally behind him.
He noted that the Vice President of Ghana has accepted that he is only a mate but not the driver, and he cannot implement certain policies under the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo government.
“People know that Dr. Bawumia is limited to certain powers which is not appropriate and unfair,” he stated.
Wontumi however praised Dr Bawumia for leading the implementation of the digitalisation agenda of the Akufo-Addo administration.
“The late President Mills gave John Mahama the opportunity to buy an Airbus plane, which became a disaster. Just that Bawumia is somebody; when you give him something to do, he will make sure he will do it and do it well…this differentiates Dr. Bawumia and John Mahama, so when he says he is the best, he is indeed the best, and Ghanaians can attest to it,” he said.
