President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that he would ensure they experience a stable power.
The President, reiterating his government’s commitment to addressing the country’s energy challenges, said he would ensure they are addressed accordingly.
His assurance follows the decision by the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) to agree to postpone its planned pipeline maintenance by two weeks to prevent an imminent power crisis in the country.
This was after GRIDCo had warned that the ongoing fuel shortages for thermal plants combined with the disruption in gas supply from the pipeline have the potential to cause unstable power generation capacity.
Addressing attendees at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, President Mahama admitted to the challenges within the energy sector and expressed unwavering commitment to addressing them.
“We are assuming office at a critical time in our nation’s history. Ghana is faced with significant challenges. But that is exactly the reason why you elected us.
We will transparently let you understand what those challenges are and we will take responsibility for solving them,” he said on Thursday, December 9, 2025.
He indicated “There is a threat of power outages but my brothers and sisters, don’t despair. You elected us to solve the problems not to blame anybody else.”
The President further entreated the people not to lose hope as there are proactive measures underway to solve any potential power outages also known as Dumsor.
“I can assure you of some of the ideas they have come up with. We will make sure that your lights stay on,” he stated.
