President John Dramani Mahama has named Kofi Iddie Adams, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Buem Constituency, as the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation.
His nomination comes as part of the President’s latest ministerial appointments, announced on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
The list includes notable members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), such as Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister-Designate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Samuel Nartey George, the Minister-Designate for the Ministry of Communications, among others.
Mr. Adams’ nomination comes at a time when the odds had favored former Sports and Youth Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye as the preferred candidate to head the sector under Mahama’s administration.
The astute politician, who is an ardent fan of boxing, will become the Minister leading the newly restructured sector, Sports and Recreation, once cleared by the Parliamentary Vetting Committee.
