President John Dramani Mahama has directed the police to arrest reckless riders and drivers during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations to prevent accidents and loss of lives.
He emphasized the need for a peaceful and dignified celebration, warning that reckless driving has already caused tragic incidents, and this must stop.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at Independence Square on 31st March, 2025, President Mahama stressed that Eid should be observed with peace and dignity.
He urged Muslims to ensure that no lives are lost during the festivities.

He also cautioned the youth against reckless driving and riding, stating that he has instructed the police to monitor them. Anyone caught riding or driving dangerously will be arrested.
“Eid-ul-Fitr should be celebrated with peace and dignity. Reckless riding and driving have led to the unfortunate loss of lives. No one must die during the celebration of Eid. I have asked the police to be on the lookout, and if you ride or drive recklessly, you will be arrested.”

President Mahama further emphasized that one of Islam’s core teachings is charity, kindness, and generosity.
He urged Muslims to remember the less fortunate, including orphans, widows, the unemployed, and the elderly.

He encouraged them to continue acts of kindness beyond Ramadan and extend support to those in greatest need.
