The Chief of Okobeyeyie in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region, Nana Opare Odei II, has urged Ghanaians to avoid discrimination and embrace non-indigenous individuals, emphasising that this approach will catalyse development within the community.

In an interview with Angel News, Nana Opare Odei II noted that some Ghanaians have developed a tendency to discriminate against those who are not natives of a community yet are committed to fostering its growth.

He asserted that these individuals often play a crucial role in the development of both the country and the community.

He stated: “How Ghanaians have their freedom, we also have our freedom to protect our properties, so we’re telling our brother Nana Darko Ampem that he should stand as a warrior for us, and we’ll also support him anytime he calls us. We invited him to work with us.

“As our elders wisely say, “ɔhɔhoɔ na yɛde kyekyeree kuro” [it is the stranger we use to build the town],” he stated.

Nana Opare Odei II urged Ghanaians to refrain from discrimination by labelling individuals as non-indigenous to the community or town.

“We’re all Ghanaians, so everyone has the right to combat any unlawful behaviour or act in this community. Since he is also a Ghanaian, he must assist in fighting any unlawful acts,” he concluded.

He made the call during the enstollment of Tofu Hene for the Okobeyeyie community at Nsawam.

On the Part of the Newly Installed Tofu Hene of Okobeyeyie Nana Kojo Ampem Darko pledged to collaborate with the traditional leaders and the people of Okobeyeyie to regain its glory.
