Former Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has cast doubt on Coach Otto Addo’s ability to lead Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He expressed confidence in the team’s chances of securing qualification to the global competition with two matches left.
Mr. Bonsu nonetheless indicated that head coach Otto Addo does not have the capabilities to lead the West African powerhouse.
“I’m sure Ghana is going to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but Otto Addo is not a coach that can lead us to the tournament,” he told Wontumi Sports.
Following Ghana’s recent home victory over Mali, the team is technically one win away from booking a qualification berth with 19 points.
Speaking further, Mr. Bonsu admitted the strong opposition of Mali, however, he noted their poor start to the qualification campaign and doubted Madagascar’s chances of overtaking Ghana, trailing by 3 points in second place.
“I see Mali as the strongest opponent in our group; unfortunately, they did not start the qualification series well. It is too late for them to secure qualification. For Madagascar, who are trailing us with 16 points, can’t win the two remaining games,” he added.
Black Stars’ next qualifying match is an away game against the Central African Republic before hosting Comoros in the final round of matches next month.
