President John Dramani Mahama has launched the much-awaited STEMBox for basic education, an initiative rolled out to promote hands-on science learning and make lessons more engaging, effective, and accessible for pupils.
Speaking at the launch on Thursday, December 4, 2025, the President emphasized that the STEMBox represents more than a set of learning tools; it serves as a gateway to exploration, discovery, and invention.
He noted that the STEMBox contains “age-appropriate practical tools that help pupils understand scientific concepts, build simple machines, experiment with circuits, energy and motion, and engage in creative problem-solving through hands-on activity.”
He stated that the initiative will help boost local manufacturing, create jobs, and strengthen Ghana’s position as a technologically progressive nation.
Developed by Charles Ofori Antipem, the STEMBox is designed to support teachers in delivering STEM lessons more effectively and effortlessly.
It is expected to empower pupils by making science learning interactive and practical at the basic school level.
In his remarks, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, expressed profound gratitude to the President, noting that the innovation will significantly reshape and modernize teaching and learning in basic education across the country.
Stakeholders involved in the initiative also expressed deep appreciation and underscored the importance of the STEMBox in improving learning outcomes.
They further assured their commitment to ensuring the tool is fully and effectively utilized in schools nationwide.
