Flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, is calling for reconnecting with its grassroots and empowering delegates, indicating that their welfare and role in shaping the party’s future must be prioritized as the presidential primaries approach.
Mr Agyapong said the importance of protecting delegates and prioritizing their welfare, and acknowledged the party’s achievements in expanding opportunities, strengthening private enterprises, and widening access to education.
“Our defeat was a message to reconnect with the grassroots, a message that discipline and humility must return to the leadership. A message that change is not optional, it is urgent,” he said on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
He further highlighted the crucial role of delegates, insisting that they are the backbone of the party.
“Delegates, you are the backbone of this party; without you, there will be no NPP,” he said.
He notes that he will establish a framework to ensure delegates’ welfare, emphasizing transparency and institutional support for those facing genuine hardship.
“Delegates’ welfare will not depend on proximity to power; it will be institutionalized, fair, structured, and transparent,” he stated.
He used the medium and called for a peaceful electoral exercise during and after the all-important poll.
