A twelve-year-old girl in Abrabra, within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, has allegedly been beaten to a pulp by her mother, Diana Kwarteng, leaving her seriously injured after selling a plantain for GH¢30 that they had harvested from the farm.
The victim, identified as Vida Kwarteng, is reported to have informed her mother of her intention to sell the plantain shortly after they had returned from the farm. However, the mother is said to have remained silent.
According to reports, Vida went ahead to sell the plantain for GH¢30.00 and handed the money over to her mother upon returning home.
Subsequently, an enraged Diana questioned her daughter’s action and allegedly began beating her with a suspected wire before fleeing the scene.
Residents quickly called Vida’s uncle, who rushed her to the Abrabra Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
The case has since been officially reported to the police for further investigation, but the police have yet to effect any arrest after the assault on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
