The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Wael Fathy, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak to discuss enhanced security sector collaboration.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday April, 8, 2026, the meeting aimed to review the historical relations between Ghana and Egypt and explore measures to enhance cooperation in security development.
“The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to review the longstanding historical relations between Ghana and Egypt and explore practical ways to enhance cooperation in areas such as border security, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and capacity building,” part of the statement stated.

The discussion stressed the potential collaboration in “intelligence sharing, police training, migration management, and countering emerging threats such as cybercrime.”
Mr. Muntaka highlighted that the bonds between the two nations rooted in the Pan-African ideals championed by Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser.
He noted that Ghana is keen to build on existing security cooperation, emphasizing partnership that’s aligns with Ghana priorities in national safety, while contributing to regional stability under the African Union framework.
According to Fathy, Egypt has demonstrated strengths in managing complex border security challenges and developing integrated internal security capabilities.
Mr. Fathy further reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to sharing its expertise with Ghana.
