Ghana’s Black Meteors have arrived in Benghazi, Libya, ahead of their CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against the North African side.
Head coach Desmond Ofei and his squad touched down at Benina International Airport on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The Black Meteors will lock horns with their Libyan counterparts at the Benghazi International Stadium on Wednesday, November 11, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm local time (5pm Ghana time). The return leg is slated for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the next qualifying round, where they will face either Equatorial Guinea or Niger in their quest to secure a place at the continental showpiece.
Ghana received a bye in the first round of the three-stage qualification series, with seven teams expected to join hosts Egypt for the eight-team 2027 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
The campaign offers a chance to reignite Ghana’s Olympic football ambitions after a long absence from the men’s competition at the Games.
Ghana last featured in Olympic men’s football at the 2004 Athens Games, and qualifying for the 2027 tournament would be a significant step toward ending that 23-year absence.
