Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has said that the demands of coaching Africa’s most successful club resulted in him developing high blood pressure.
Mosimane has been in South Africa during a mid-season break in Egypt, conducting various media engagements across the country.
Despite many successes at the helm of the Red Devils, the 57-year-old has been the subject of constant criticism from sections of the club’s former players which has taken a toll on Pitso Mosimane’s health.
The 57-year-old revealed that he developed high blood pressure in his time coaching Al Ahly out in Egypt. Mosimane took over the helm of the club in late 2020, winning two CAF Champions league titles, the Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup.
“I don’t know how I’m doing it; thank God I’m still there. It’s a difficult environment Mahlatse, and it is tiring. It takes a lot of my energy. Coaching has a lot of stresses and sicknesses – I’ve suffered from those things – I must tell you the truth”
“I’ve suffered from fatigue, and I’ve suffered from high blood pressure. “It’s the nature of the business; it’s the nature of the club. “It’s stress, you don’t sleep well”
“It’s not all about the social media and pressure of supporters; it’s also about your players – you want them to do this, and they don’t do it. It’s like that at every club. Some players fit in, and some don’t.”
