The Technical Advisor of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, has been appointed head coach for the senior national team, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
He takes over from Coach Otto Addo, who resigned following Ghana’s poor performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to the Ghana Football Association, the hiring of the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager follows an extensive deliberation between the two parties.
“The appointment is in line with the vision of the GFA to continue with the project of building a formidable squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament,” the GFA said in a statement on Sunday evening.
He will be assisted by George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani who were all members of the technical team for the World Cup in Qatar.
According to the Ghana FA, details about the duration of the contract and terms of engagement would be announced in due course.
Mr. Hughton, until he was appointed Black Stars coach, was the Technical Advisor of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.
