The Men’s National Team of the United State of America (USA) will play Ghana in a high-profile friendly match in October 2023.
The game will serve as a preparatory ground for the US in its quarterfinal matches in the Concacaf Nations League the following slated for November.
The Yanks play the Black Stars of Ghana three days later after they had face Germany on October 14 at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford.
Against the stars, will become their first visit to GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tenn. TNT and Universo will televise the match with Max and Peacock streaming at 8 p.m. ET, followed by kickoff at 8:30 p.m. ET.
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, said the game presents to the team a very good platform to test its strength against one of the best teams in the World.
“We have always been looking for these kinds of opportunities to continue our team building exercise so playing against the United States of America has come in handy.
We have two more matches to end the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and would need matches of this nature to prepare for future assignments i.e. the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast,” President Simeon-Okraku told ghanafa, the official mouthpiece of the association.
Ghana and the USA having met four times in their history, the series is perfectly split with each side collecting two wins with matching 2-1 score lines.
Remarkably, three of the four meetings have taken place in World Cups, with Ghana getting the edge in the 2006 and 2010 tournaments respectively while the USA recorded a victory in its opening group game in Brazil 2014 World Cup.
