Deputy Health Minister-designate, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has stated that between 2017 and 2022, the government created approximately 2.1 million jobs.

He pointed out that this achievement by the government is an important contributing factor leading to the victory in the Ejisu by-election.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, May 02, 2024, the Akyem Oda Member of Parliament emphasised that the government had focused on providing employment opportunities in response to the public’s demand for jobs rather than direct financial aid.

Mr Acquah reported that out of the 2.1 million jobs created, the public sector accounted for 1.2 million positions, with all these employees contributing to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). He added that verification of the data could be done through SSNIT records.

“All these people have been employed in the public sector, and their SSNIT contributions reflect their employment status. It’s during our tenure that we’ve facilitated these job opportunities,” Alexander Acquah said.

He noted that these achievements played a role in securing support from the voters in Ejisu, where the NPP retained its seat. Voters took into account the party’s efforts in job creation when electing legal practitioner, Kwabena Boateng from the NPP.

“All these achievements played a role in securing support from the voters in Ejisu, where the NPP retained its seat.

“Voters took into account the party’s efforts in job creation when electing Lawyer Boateng from the NPP,” he added.
