Ghana’s Black Stars were stunned by a formidable Angola side at Kumasi in the ongoing 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Stars suffered a last-minute defeat in their backyard at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with a 1-0 scoreline.

This means Coach Otto Addo and his men commenced their 2025 AFCON qualification journey with huge disappointment on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

The first half ended goaless despite both sides showing glimpses of their attacking prowess. Ghana managed to record only one shot on target with a Mohammed Kudus effort denied by the opponent stopper.

Angola, after the break proved a formidable side for the Ghanaians on the break although the home team had dominated much of the possession.

Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo caused fewer problems for the Angola defence but they failed to convert them to goals.

Felicio Milson’s late strike in injury time earned the Palancas Negras of Angola a huge win, thanks to Felicio Milson who plys his trade for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

Ghana are now third on the Group F log with zero points to their name, just above Niger who also have zero points.

The Black Stars will travel to Morocco to play Niger in their second Group C game while Angola welcomes Sudan, who defeated Niger on match day 1.
