A member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has described former President John Dramani Mahama as the “biggest political hypocrite Ghana has ever had.”
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Monday, September 30, 2024, she said Mahama’s comments regarding illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey,” are contradictory and misleading.
Ms Daaku highlighted that a man who is on record to have commented that he would free individuals arrested for engaging in galamsey if he returns to power lacks the power to comment on issues about illegal mining.
She further expressed the view that Mahama’s stance on illegal mining is hypocritical, adding that Mahama only professes in Accra that he would ban illegal mining but encourage same when he campaigns in the rural areas.
She argued that this exposes Mahama’s inconsistency, especially when his vice president is said to partake in similar double standards.
Ms Daaku emphasized that the NDC lacks real policies to address illegal mining.
“With just 69 days until the upcoming elections, the NDC is simply making noise without presenting tangible solutions for the country’s pressing challenges…,” he said.
