The appointment of John Ayiku Ocansey as the new Acting Deputy Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has led to discontent among some members.

Energy Minister John Jinapor, had instructed the ECG management to introduce the Acting Deputy Managing Director to the management of the company.

Following his introduction, some disappointed management and staff members, are threatening a nationwide strike.

However, the Union executives say they have never threatened to go on strike.

They rather pledged their support and confidence in the appointment of Mr. John Ayiku Ocansey.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Friday, March 21, General Secretary of the Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU), Timothy Nyame described Mr Ocansey as a fine gentleman who is qualified to occupy the position of Deputy MD at ECG.

He, however, said his outfit is not aware of any wrangling among some managers or staff of ECG regarding the appointment of Mr Ocansey.

He said PUWU does not also have any communication suggesting that the ECG staff union are planning any industrial action to protest the appointment.
