The Board Chairman of ABN Group of Company, Nana Dr. Dankanwoso Appiagyei I, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his administration’s performance in the first seven months of governance.
According to him, Mr. Mahama’s leadership has so far taken a positive direction.
“For the first seven months, I can say that he is currently on track, and I pray that he will continue in the same direction. However, one thing I’m worried about is the Rambo-style arrest of former government appointees. There are laws, so I believe we should allow the law to take its due course on individuals who have committed an offense,” he noted.
He also expressed concern about recent demolitions, particularly of structures that are not situated on Ramsar sites, suggesting an alternative approach.
“Also, the demolition of facilities is very disturbing, and I believe they can be acquired by the state and used for other purposes or to provide accommodations instead of demolishing them, because we can all attest to the high cost of building. They can also serve as accommodations for government workers,” Nana Dr. Dankanwoso Appiagyei I
The Board Chairman who doubles as a traditional authority made the observation while addressing participants at the fourth biennial conference of the Methodist Choir in the Northern Accra Diocese.
Nana Appiagyei I touching further on President Mahama’s performance asked him to remain focused and committed to good governance.
“So I urge him not to stray from the right path he has taken. He shouldn’t be discouraged by anything but should be reminded that ‘A good name is better than riches’ (Proverbs 22:1). Given that he has had a second opportunity in his second coming, he should realize God gave it to him, so he should reflect on his flaws during his first term and correct them.
“As he has started, so should he continue, so that in the near future he will be remembered for good governance, that it was during his era that things worked out perfectly for the country.”
He concluded with a call for unity among political leaders and citizens in building the nation.
“So far, so good. May God be with him and all Parliamentarians. Let us all work together in unity and understanding to develop Ghana.”
