The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday, August 22, 2025, opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency.
This follows the death of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who died in the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 20, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey announced that nomination forms would be collected and submitted at the NDC Northern Regional Office. The process is scheduled to close on Sunday, August 24.
According to the party’s guidelines, aspirants will be given a certified delegates’ list after the vetting stage.
Nomination forms cost GH₵5,000, while filing fees stand at GH₵40,000. However, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will receive a 50 percent discount on the filing fee.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has withdrawn from the contest, explaining that the decision was made to honor the late MP for the constituency, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
