A presidential staffer of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Beatrice Annan, has revealed the party’s commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure that the battle against corruption is executed within the regulations of law.
Ms. Annan made these statements on Angel Morning Show on Monday, October 27, 2025, while addressing pressing issues related to governance and corruption in the country.
“NDC believes that in administering a country we do not destroy the judiciary,” she stated, adding that the government is not complacent regarding issues of corruption.
She cited an example where the NDC uncovered scandals within the National Service Authority (NSA), which had claimed GHC 526 million. An audit conducted after the NDC assumed office revealed that GHC 2.2 billion had actually been spent.
Ms. Annan described cases of financial misconduct as exhausting, explaining that some politicians engage in layering, a practice where funds are concealed by distributing them across multiple properties.
She emphasised that the government remains resolute in addressing such corrupt practices through lawful means.
“The fight against corruption must be done according to the law,” she stated.
“Public officials should be able to explain how they generate their income. “If your salary doesn’t correspond with your assets, you will have questions to answer,” she assured.
Further, Ms. Annan reiterated that the government would not resort to unethical tactics such as influencing judges or forging documents to win corruption cases. “The wheels of justice grind slowly.”
She concluded by emphasising that the NDC remains committed to listening to the needs of Ghanaians, ensuring that this government will create jobs and promote transparency.
