The Eastern Regional Police Commander, (DCOP) Joseph Owusu-Bempah, has cautioned the public to refrain from any form of hooliganism ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer primaries
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Show Force exercise in Koforidua, DCOP Owusu urged the electorate to maintain law and order and avoid any action that could lead to detention.
He disclosed that more than 1,000 personnel will be deployed across the region. Each of the constituencies will receive 125 police officers, backed by two rapid response teams and an additional 100 officers on standby.
DCOP Owusu-Bempah also noted the special deployment of the Critical Incident Intervention Team (CIT) from the Police Headquarters in Accra to further strengthen security operations.
He assured journalists, delegates, and voters that the police is committed to ensuring a safe and orderly election, emphasizing that any attempts to foment trouble will be met with firm action.
“Security has been strengthened across all voting centres, and we are prepared to protect every delegate and participant,” he stated.
