The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, to replace Mahama Ayariga on the party’s committee investigating alleged vote buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries.
The decision was announced in a social media post on Sunday, February 8,2026, by the NDC Headquarters.
According to the party, Mr. Ayariga stepped aside after his continued membership of the committee became untenable due to the public position taken by the NDC Majority Caucus on the matter.
“Mr. Ayariga had to step down because his position on the committee became untenable following the declared position of the Majority Caucus,” the statement said.
The investigative committee was constituted to probe allegations of vote buying and electoral malpractice that emerged during the recent Ayawaso East primaries, which have sparked intense internal debate within the party.
