The Majority Caucus in Parliament has called for the immediate annulment of the recently held National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency, following allegations of vote buying during the exercise.
In a statement dated February 8, 2026, and issued on the letterhead of the Majority Caucus of the Parliament of Ghana, the caucus said it had become aware of widely circulated reports and allegations of vote buying in the just concluded primary in the Greater Accra Region.
The caucus strongly condemned the alleged acts, describing them as inconsistent with efforts to reset Ghana’s political culture and restore integrity within the democratic process.

The document was signed by Mahama Ayariga, MP, Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business.
After what it described as extensive deliberations, the leadership of the Majority Caucus resolved to formally communicate its position to the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC.
Among the key resolutions outlined in the statement are:
- The immediate annulment of the Ayawaso East NDC parliamentary primary.
2.The disqualification and ban of any candidate found to have engaged in vote buying from participating in the subsequent primary to be organised after the annulment.
“The Majority Caucus remains committed to restoring integrity to our politics,” the statement said.
