Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially started investigations into alleged electoral corruption linked to recent party primaries of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a public notice issued on Sunday, February 8, 2026, the OSP announced that it has commenced investigations into the NPP presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026.
The anti-corruption body further disclosed that it began a real-time investigation on February 7, 2026 during the NDC parliamentary primaries at the Ayawaso East Constituency.
According to the OSP, the investigations focus on allegations of vote buying, vote selling, and the sources of funding of the alleged corrupt acts.
“During the NDC parliamentary primaries in Ayawaso East, a candidate Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed abetted individuals described as thugs to physically attack an OSP officer.
“The officer was reportedly serving an investigative directive on the candidate in connection with suspected vote buying and vote selling at the time of the incident,” the statement read.

Following the alleged assault, the OSP says it has opened an additional investigation into the attack on its authorized officer, who was said to be performing his official duties.
The Office reminded the public that, the law strictly prohibits corrupt practices related to public elections, stressing that vote buying, vote selling, intimidation, threats of violence, and acts of violence constitute serious criminal offenses.
