The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has expressed his disappointment with his predecessor, Francis Asenso-Boakye, for failing to complete the Suame interchange by the end of 2024.
In a recent media briefing, Agbodza emphasised that former President Nana Akufo-Addo had declared that the Suame interchange would be completed and handed over by the end of 2024. However, this deadline remains unmet.
Agbodza stated that if the former Minister for Roads and Highways, Asenso-Boakye, had heeded Akufo-Addo’s plan, the current discussion would not be necessary, and thus he is to be blamed for the delays.
He further highlighted that the decision to design the project with four tiers was a significant factor contributing to its delays.
“It is Asenso-Boakye’s choice that has made us talk about tiers. They decided to make it four tiers, but because they failed to complete it, that is why we are still discussing this issue,” he said in an interview monitored on GHOne TV.
Agbodza assured the public that he and his government are committed to completing the project.
“It is his failure and the failure of that government to deliver the project, and we are going to deliver that project for the good people of Ghana,” he stated.
