The soldier, Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Morris Addae, who sustained a gunshot wound during a NAIMOS anti-galamsey operation in Dormaa Central, Bono Region, in January 2026, has fully recovered.
In a statement, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) announced that the officer has been treated and discharged.
“After weeks of intensive care and rehabilitation, L/CP is now in good health and preparing to rejoin his colleagues to continue governments’ fight against illegal mining,” it stated.
A delegation from NAIMOS, led by its Director of Operations, Colonel Dominic Buah, commended the officer’s courage and dedication to duty during a visit.
NAIMOS reaffirmed its commitment to continue routine operations in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to combat illegal mining.
Lance Corporal Addae expressed gratitude to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), the leadership of NAIMOS, and well-wishers for their support throughout his recovery.
