The Kwabenya District Police Command has detained four employees of a microfinance company in connection with an alleged assault on a 42-year-old woman at Ashongman Estate.
The suspects, identified as Denis Wornyo, 38, Albert Amarh, 40, Ebenezer Amartei, 23, and Atsu Lawson, 27, are officials of Bill’s Microfinance.
According to a police report, Madam Hagar Emaser was allegedly assaulted during a debt recovery visit at her home.
Police said Madam Emaser had taken a loan from the company, and the incident happened when the officials went to demand repayment, during which they allegedly assaulted her.
The police noted that the four suspects are in custody and are assisting with investigations.
They used the opportunity and urged the public, especially victims of assault and other crimes, to report such incidents promptly, reiterating that loan repayment disputes should be resolved through lawful means.
