President John Dramani Mahama has praised Ghana as a shining example of religious tolerance.
He noted that Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths live together in mutual respect and harmony.
Speaking at the presidential iftar on Monday March 16, 2026, Mr. Mahama highlighted the close relationship between Christianity and Islam, pointing out that both faiths teach moral guidance through the lives of their prophets.
He explained that the Holy Bible provides God’s teachings in the Old Testament and the life of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, while the Quran is the word of God and the Hadith illustrates the life of Prophet Muhammad.
“The teachings of the prophets guide how we should live, Muslims in following the Prophet, Christians in following Jesus Christ,” Mr. Mahama said.
“Both faiths emphasize love, compassion, and forgiveness. If a person claims to be a true Muslim or Christian but is hard of heart, unforgiving, or harms others, they cannot truly claim that faith.”
President Mahama used the occasion to encourage Ghanaians to embody these values in daily life, reinforcing the nation’s reputation as a beacon of religious coexistence.
