Two individuals are confirmed dead after a Skyarrow microlight helicopter crashed at Oninku, near Tema Community 1.
The deceased, all males, were onboard the helicopter. Their bodies have been retrieved and handed over to the Police for further investigation, the Ghana National Fire Service stated in a release shortly after the incident.
The helicopter with registration number G9-ADV crash-landed at TMA Daycare, Site 18, Tema Community 1, eyewitnesses reported.
The incident was reported at 14:59 hours, and firefighters from the Tema Metro Fire Station arrived at the scene within three (3) minutes.
The helicopter is badly damaged and mangled, and firefighters had to carry out extrication operations to retrieve the occupants.
Regional Commanders of both the Fire Service and the Police in Tema were at the scene managing the situation at the time this report was filed.
