The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will commence a major initiative to replace and upgrade twelve (12) 2MVA transformers across various locations in Greater Accra.
The initiative, approved by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, forms part of broader efforts by ECG to strengthen the country’s power distribution and reliable electricity services nationwide.
According to ECG, the first phase of the project will involve the replacement of twelve (12) power transformers across six primary substations located in Adenta, La, Teshie-Nungua, Nmai-Dzor, Baatsonaa, and Lashibi.
Each transformer will be upgraded from 20/26 MVA to 30/39 MVA, according to the ECG.
The exercise, scheduled to run for three days, is expected to commence from Wednesday, April 8, 2026 to Friday, April 10.
The Company urged that residents and businesses in the affected areas to planned power outages to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the works.
ECG assured the public that efforts will be made to minimize the duration and impact of the outages, noting that timetable outlining specific outage periods and affected locations will be communicated through its official platforms.
The company further expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation during the exercise.
