The Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) has addressed recent media allegations regarding impropriety in the company’s procurement activities.
In a statement signed by Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Ernest-Kirk Mensah, Ghana Gas explained that most of the allegations stem from the change of the company’s lead insurer this year, which followed the routine expiration of previous insurance contracts at the end of the year.
The company categorically assured the public that no wrongdoing has occurred in the new insurance arrangements, describing them as “lawful and part of an enhanced risk management strategy to protect the company’s assets.”
Ghana Gas also confirmed that all contracts awarded have undergone the requisite approval processes from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), following commitment authorizations granted by the Ministry of Finance.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to stakeholders and the general public, emphasizing its focus on delivering gas in a timely and efficient manner to meet the nation’s energy needs.
The statement added that Ghana Gas will continue to review and strengthen its internal processes to ensure robust corporate governance, compliance, and risk management for the benefit of the company and its stakeholders.
