The Ghana Police Service has pledged to apprehend the suspected armed robbers who attacked Ghana Premier League (GPL) outfit Berekum Chelsea.
According to the police, they will ensure the suspects currently at large are arrested within the shortest possible time.
The police assurance comes after the Ashanti Regional Police Command launched a manhunt for the suspects who attacked the team’s VIP bus carrying 30 playing body along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, 12 April 2026, at 10:30 p.m., claimed the life of 21-year-old striker Dominic Frimpong.
In a statement, the police said the suspected robbers, numbering six, three of whom were wielding pump-action guns, could not immediately be traced when officers arrived at the scene.
It noted that additional personnel and crime scene experts have been deployed to the area and are currently searching for the suspects, urging the public to remain calm while investigations continue.
“The Police assure the public that the perpetrators will be arrested within the shortest possible time,” it said.
According to the police, another victim, George Owusu Afriyie, aged 52, was robbed of GH¢4,500.00.
Items retrieved from the scene included two spent BB cartridges, which have been kept to assist investigations.
