Dancehall artist, Stonebwoy, shared a deeply moving story about what prisoners go through.
Speaking to the media following his donation to the facility, Stonebwoy said people can only imagine how difficult life is for those who have lost their freedom, noting he broke down in tears after seeing a childhood friend at Nsawam Prison.
He compared conditions at home and how much food costs for those behind bars, adding that inmates are entitled to only GHS3 worth of food daily.
“The conditions are not as conducive, even us those who are home we find out that it is not easier for the majority how much more those who are behind bus who are supposed to be leaving of a minimum wage of specifically between 1 and 3 cedis?
“You know how much food cost, anytime I go there to visit I see some of my friends I grew up with,” he stated.
He noted that, as an Ashiaman boy who grew up facing many struggles, he understands the situation. This understanding, he said, motivates him to visit the prison and to donate there often.
He added that visiting such places inspires and helps shape people’s lives.
He urged members of the public to be guided in life so they do not end up in situations like this.
He stressed that such environments are not suitable for anyone to live in.
“Prison is actually not for fun so it’s a very touching and emotional as human as I am, I feel it touching someone tears and emotions are natural.
“It tells us that we have to be careful how we deal we have to choose ways that will not take us to the other side else we must go through some experience that we not be able to survive and that’s why you saw me weeping,” he uttered.
