Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor has slammed the President of the United States of America (USA), for disrespecting the memory of murdered US citizen of African descent, George Floyd.
Millions of people have marched across the world against injustice, after watching the viral video of Floyd’s death, taken by a bystander, and listened to the 46-year-old’s desperate pleas of “I can’t breathe” to the officer restraining him on the ground.
Floyd, an African-American, struggled to call out for his late mother and begged the officer for mercy, as he lay dying, pinned down by now-former officer Derek Chauvin, who is white, kneeling on his neck.
Many have blamed the rise of the white supremacy movement on the support they seem to enjoy from the President, Donald Trump.
Commenting on this on Angel FM’s morning show, Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ, former President, John Agyekum Kufuor said he does not understand why the US President seems to be less concerned about the treatment being meted out to Black Americans.
To him, the US President ought to know better arguing that, the ancestors of the current Blacks in America lived in that country even before Donald Trump’s ancestors migrated there.
He argued further that, the White supremacists in the USA are scared of the rise of the Blacks and that could possibly be part of the reasons for the numerous attacks on the race.
“America is a great nation…their Constitution is neatly written but the implementation has always been laden with troubles…God made Obama President of America and that has led to panic among some of the whites…they fear the blacks will take over…,” he stated.
